While here, the UNK leaders received a briefing on USSTRATCOM’s missions and priorities, toured an RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft and visited the new command and control facility. UNK is one of 38 local and national universities that have joined the USSTRATCOM Deterrence and Assurance Academic Alliance. The alliance was created to develop a community of interest and leverage expertise to research the concepts and practice of deterrence and assurance, as well as encourage the development of deterrence professionals to meet the nation's need for future generations of leaders. One of nine Department of Defense unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions assigned through the Unified Command Plan that include strategic deterrence, space operations, cyberspace operations, joint electronic warfare, global strike, missile defense, intelligence, and analysis and targeting.
