The Inspire or Retire Theorem
The overall concept of the Inspire or Retire Theorem is:
The function of every Junior Enlisted to SNCO is to lead People (P) and execute the Mission (M). The Service Core Values (SCV) and the Service Creeds (SC) together form a rock solid leadership foundation to build everything upon. Fused on top of that foundation is our Enlisted responsibilities and Leadership by Example (R(LxE)), a 360-degree leadership view (L(360)), the concept of developing leaders versus just followers multiplies your leadership capacity by 10 fold (DA(10X)), and making sure every enlisted troop is technically, mentally, physically, and spiritually ready to employ and deploy (DR(TPMS)). Add in the strategic enlisted leadership understanding of the Joint Force Mission, Vision, Strategic plan, and priorities (AF (MxVxSPxP)) you should develop a 21st Century Leader and Warrior with a desire and mindset to be amazing and inspire our troops. If an individual chooses not to follow the principles in the theorem the only option then is for the individual to separate or retire.
The overall key to the formula is the function of f(x) below:

µ C4 = Character, Competence, Courage, and Commitment— C4 is the most explosive part of the function of (x) because it represents who you are deep down inside, your abilities, your strengths, and your passion. Surrounding C4 are the next three elements of the function of (x):
µ CD = Continuous Development—as a leader you must continually develop yourself professionally, technically, mentally, spiritually, and physically to stay on the leading edge and to be the example for others to follow.
µ CG = Continuous Growth—coupled with your continuous development of the internal and external capabilities and abilities is the continuous growth. Growth is the discipline and commitment to apply and incorporate the learned development to your character and leadership abilities. Without growth you will never become the true asset the Air Force and society needs.
µ CR = Continuously Reinventing Yourself—as you grow and develop your character, your leadership abilities, your competence, and your capabilities you will continually reinvent who you are and what you are capable of accomplishing. Just like the legendary bird the phoenix. A new you rises from the ashes of the old as you grow and develop new skills, new capabilities, new passions, and a new mindset.
