From January 2009 to Dec 2009, The United Stated Strategic Command will execute a "Year of the Enlisted Global Warfighter” to focus on the history, heritage and the missions of Strategic Air Command, USSTRATCOM and the contributions of the enlisted force in its missions.

Every enlisted person assigned or attached to USSTRATCOM believes in our mission, is committed to the mission, and owns the mission. Every enlisted Soldier, Sailor, Marine and Airman is critical to mission success. It is absolutely imperative that our enlisted warriors continue to be the capable, credible and faithful men and women America has come to expect.

For more than sixty years, first as Strategic Air Command then as United States Strategic Command, whether in garrison or on deployment, during peacetime or at war, the enlisted force has been the foundation upon which USSTRATCOM success has been built. The enlisted heritage of service and sacrifice defines who we are, shapes America’s approach to warfare and sets the vector for the Armed Forces and our nation. The program, over the 12 month period, will:

  1. Focus on the critical role the enlisted force plays in executing the command’s missions
  2. Highlight important attributes, traits, or aspects of enlisted leadership and leaders
  3. Create opportunities to improve enlisted leadership capacity and capability
  4. Implement or improve enlisted development programs designed to develop leaders
  5. Understanding the criticality of our global mission and the impact we have both on the fight we are in and the fight we deter
  6. Display a sincere interest in subordinates career development and career progression
  7. Develop cooperative relationships/teamwork among all enlisted groups
