Master Gunnery Sergeant Terrance L. Meekins is the Headquarters Commandant for U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. He is the principle enlisted advisor to the Chief of Staff on implementation of the Command’s resourcing strategy; including personnel, leadership development, facilities management, and execution of the $750 million budget. He is responsible for ensuring the command vision, goals and objectives align with management processes, personnel and programs. Leads, and is responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of the multiple Command-level projects and events. In addition, he serves as an advisor to the USSTRATCOM CSEL on command enlisted issues and assessing overall organizational health, welfare, and morale of the service members throughout the Command. He engages in the Command’s key NCO professional development initiatives and partners across the headquarters with directorate level senior enlisted leaders and service element senior enlisted representatives to address organizational issues.
Master Gunnery Sergeant Terrance Meekins enlisted in the Marine Corps August 1994 and graduated recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California. Following graduation from recruit training Private Meekins attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California where he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. After Marine Combat Training, Private First Class Meekins attended the Basic Embarkation and Logistics Course in Coronado California where he attained the MOS 0431 Embarkation and Logistics Specialist.
In January 1995, Private First Class Meekins reported to 3d Marine Regiment where he served as the Embarkation Clerk and Noncommissioned Officer in the mobility section.
In January 1998 Corporal Meekins was transferred to Fort Lee Virginia to serve as the S4 Chief and Platoon Sergeant for Marines Awaiting Training.
In 2001 Sergeant Meekins reported to 2d Marine Division G4 for a period of 6 months until he was transferred to 3d Battalion 8th Marines where he participated in the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan and Operation Secure Tomorrow in Port Au Prince, Haiti.
December 2004 Staff Sergeant Meekins was assigned to 2d Tank Battalion while waiting to execute orders to Marine Security Guard School. In April 2005 Staff Sergeant Meekins attended and completed Marine Security Guard School and was assigned as the Detachment Commander for American Consulate Chengdu, China and American Embassy Port of Spain, Trinidad.
December 2008, after successfully completing his tour on Marine Security Guard duty, Gunnery Sergeant Meekins was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 12 as the S4 Chief. Gunnery Sergeant Meekins simultaneously acted as the squadron First Sergeant for a period of 8 months. During Gunnery Sergeant Meekins tour with Marine Aircraft Group 12 he deployed on an Individual Augment billet with 2d Marine Special Operation Battalion as Special Operation Task Force - 82.He was promoted to Master Sergeant during this tour.
In October 2011 Master Sergeant Meekins was transferred to Marine Forces Cyber Command in Columbia Maryland to serve as the G4 Chief.
In January 2014 Master Sergeant Meekins was assigned to 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade in Manama Bahrain: During his tour in Bahrain Master Sergeant Meekins deployed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to serve as the Senior Enlisted Leader to the Commanding General for the Joint Combined Planning Cell in support of Overseas Contingency Operations. In January 2015 MGySgt Meekins assumed his previous post as Operations Chief for Headquarters Regiment, 2d Marine Logistics Group.
