Team McConnell fuels Global Thunder 22

Team McConnell Airmen participated in Global Thunder 22, Nov. 2-10.

Global Thunder 22 (GT22) is the U.S. Strategic Command’s annual command and control exercise, providing training opportunities that exercise all USSTRATCOM mission areas, with a specific focus on nuclear readiness, to enhance readiness and ensure a safe, secure, ready and reliable strategic deterrent force.

 “Global Thunder is another opportunity to practice our rapid response capabilities and demonstrate our readiness. The 22nd ARW brings strategic refueling capabilities to the total force, for receivers around the world, anytime and anywhere,” said Col. Nate Vogel, 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander.  “We stand ready to enable USSTRATCOM forces.”

GT22 will employ global operations in coordination with other combatant commands, services, and appropriate U.S. government agencies to deter, detect and, if necessary, defeat strategic attacks against the United States and its allies.

USSTRATCOM has global responsibilities that include strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, joint electromagnetic spectrum operations, global strike, missile defense, and analysis and targeting.
