CAPT John French

Captain John Anthony “Jack” French is a native of Mission Viejo, California and was commissioned via Officer Candidate School after graduation from the University of Colorado-Boulder where he received degrees in Political Science and Music. He received a Master of Business Administration-Petroleum Management degree from the University of Kansas via the US Navy Civilian Institution Program. He is also a graduate of the University of Virginia-Darden School of Business Executive Education program for Navy Supply Corps interns as well as the Advanced Program in Logistics and Technology through the Institute for Defense and Business at UNC, Chapel Hill. He is a Defense Acquisition Corps member and holds Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act level III certification in Business-Financial Management.

CAPT French’s afloat assignments include disbursing officer, USS McClusky (FFG 41); supply officer of the forward deployed USS Shiloh (CG 67); and commanding officer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Expeditionary Support Unit Two.

His shore assignments include supply officer, Naval Operational Support Center, San Diego; Business Financial Management Analyst, Huey/Cobra Upgrades (PMA-276), Naval Air Systems Command; Fuel Planner, US Fleet Forces Command; Training with Industry Fellow, ExxonMobil; and POM Mechanic, Programming Division (N80), Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. He also completed a Global Support Assignment serving as an embedded trainer in Herat, Afghanistan as well as an assignment attached to US Forces Japan during Operation Tomodachi.

CAPT French is a qualified Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer and Navy Expeditionary Supply Corps Officer. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and service awards.
