CSAF and CMSAF see first-hand the readiness of Minot AFB

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, ND — Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David L. Goldfein and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright visited Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, May 14, 2020. They saw how Team Minot has remained mission-ready and resilient throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. “There is no more important mission than what’s going on right here at Minot. We know that we are not going to get relief from this critical, nuclear mission despite COVID-19 challenges,” said Goldfein. “And I couldn’t be prouder of Team Minot, and what we’ve seen here today.”

AFNWC realigns to improve nuclear mission focus

KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. — The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center is restructuring its directorates to improve focus on providing nuclear capabilities to the warfighter.

The gold crew of the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Maine (SSBN 741) officially returned the boat to strategic service, when they recently deployed on their first patrol in more than three years. Maine's three-year break in service involved an engineered refueling overhaul, estimated to extend the life of the ship by 20 years.

USS Maine Celebrates Birthday with Return to Service

The gold crew of the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Maine (SSBN 741) officially returned the boat to strategic service, when they recently deployed on their first patrol in more than three years. 2020 marks USS Maine's 25th anniversary since commissioning and it is also the state of Maine's bicentennial.

NORAD Conducts Bomber Intercept Exercise with U.S. Strategic Command

North American Aerospace Defense Command conducted an air defense exercise that included an intercept of U.S. Strategic Command bombers on May 11 to demonstrate the air defense capabilities of Canada and the United States.

The Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Florida (SSGN 728) returns to its homeport, Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia, May 9. The ship was forward deployed for more than 800 days, providing the U.S. Navy with one of the most versatile and clandestine platforms in the fleet. Guided-missile submarines are capable of carrying up to 154 Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles and host up to 66 Special Operation Forces. Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay is homeport to all East Coast Ohio-class submarines.

The Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Tennessee (SSBN 734) gold crew returns to its homeport at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia, following a strategic deterrence patrol. The boat is one of five ballistic-missile submarines stationed at the base and is capable of carrying up to 20 submarine-launched ballistic missiles with multiple warheads.
