Airmen from the 509th and 131st Bomb Wings headed north with the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber for training with Red Flag-Alaska 22-3 at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, July 28-Aug. 12, 2022. “This training provides an opportunity for the 509th and 131st to ensure the United States’ commitment to the Indo-Pacific region, while integrating with regional partners, their assets, and all of the capabilities they bring to the fight,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. USSTRATCOM Commander Visits Minot Air Force Base

Minot Air Force Base, N.D. – Adm. Charles Richard, commander of U.S. Strategic Command visited Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, Aug. 17-18, 2022. During his visit, Adm. Richard met with Minot AFB leaders to discuss the Team Minot mission amongst both wings. Additionally, he addressed members of Team Minot during an all call where he discussed and stressed the importance of the nuclear triad.

509th Operations Support Squadron wins Omaha Trophy

Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas Bussiere presented the Omaha Trophy to the 509th Operations Support Squadron at Whiteman Air Force Base on August 4, 2022. The Omaha Trophy was created at the tail end of the Vietnam War in 1971 as a single award to recognize the best wing of the Strategic Air Command. It was originally given by the Strategic Air Command Consultation Committee, a group of civic leaders that advised the SAC.
