15th CWMD Global Synchronization Conference

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia − Senior military leaders, representatives from some of the closest U.S. allies, and members of the Threat Reduction Advisory Committee were joined by other experts at the 15th Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Global Synchronization Conference (GSC) this week at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency on Fort Belvoir.

Haney, welcomed National Reconnaissance Office director Betty Sapp and other senior leaders in defense and intelligence communities for a meeting at USSTRATCOM headquarters, Aug. 26, 2016, in the latest iteration of the ongoing Joint Space Doctrine and Tactics Forum (JSDTF).

In his remarks, Haney congratulated 18 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Department of Defense (DoD) civilians who were recognized for completing the first 10-week Joint and Combined Warfighting School satellite course at UNO. The course is the second of its kind - the pilot non-resident satellite JPME Phase II course in Tampa, Fla., was approved by Congress and launched in January 2013 - and represents the third option for field grade officers seeking JPME Phase II credit. Prior to the satellite courses, JPME Phase II courses were only offered at the National Defense University's Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC) in Norfolk, Va. USSTRATCOM, NDU and UNO partner for JPME II course

OMAHA, Neb. — OMAHA, Neb. - Eighteen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Department of Defense (DoD) civilians completed a 10-week Joint and Combined Warfighting School satellite course at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) this week. The graduates received Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase II credit and were recognized during a graduation ceremony at UNOâ€™s Mammel Hall, Aug. 25.

USSTRATCOM Detects, Tracks North Korean Missile Launches

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) systems detected what we assess were two North Korean missile launches at 5:53 p.m. CDT, August 2, 2016. The simultaneous launch of two presumed No Dong intermediate range ballistic missiles occurred near the western city of Hwangju.

A Canadian CF-18 fighter jet intercepts a B-52 Stratofortress from the 2nd Bomb Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La., over the Atlantic in support of POLAR ROAR, Aug. 1, 2016. The B-52 flew non-stop from the U.S. to the Baltic Sea and back to conduct the intercept training with NORAD-assigned Canadian fighter aircraft and NATO allies. In total, three B-52s and two B-2 Spirit bombers from all three of the U.S.â€™s strategic bomber bases (Barksdale AFB, La.; Minot AFB, N.D.; and Whiteman AFB, Mo.) participated in POLAR ROAR, which also included flights to the Arctic and Alaska's Aleutian Islands. Strategic Bomber Force Showcases Allied Interoperability During POLAR ROAR
