U.S. Air Force Gen. John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), greets U.S. Navy Adm. They also discussed collaboration and integration between combatant commands during exercise and real-world scenarios. Engagements like these support USSTRATCOM’s efforts to maintain close relationships with other combatant commands to deter adversaries and assure allies. Maintaining a combat-ready force, one of Hyten’s three priorities, and training exercises like the upcoming Global Lightning are crucial to ensuring USSTRATCOM and its components are prepared to deliver a decisive response should they be called upon to do so. These efforts support USSTRATCOM’s top priority; to provide strategic deterrence using tailored nuclear, cyber, space, global strike, joint electronic warfare, missile defense, and intelligence capabilities.
