USSTRATCOM Cyberspace Symposium

U.S. Strategic Command Public Affairs

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - United States Strategic Command hosts the second USSTRATCOM Cyberspace Symposium May 26-27, 2010 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb.

"The global cyberspace domain is how we move information. It's how we move orders. It's how we move thought. We need that to be secure and available to us to freely operate in, both in peacetime and at war," said Gen. Kevin P. Chilton, commander U.S. Strategic Command, at the opening of last year's inaugural Cyberspace Symposium.

STRATCOM is partnering with Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association International (AFCEA) to provide an exciting venue for information exchange among leaders in cyberspace fostering innovation and collaboration between the private sector and government. Sessions include perspectives of senior Department of Defense, U.S. and Allied government, academia, and industry speakers, as well as panels to discuss relevant cyber issues. The symposium's theme is, "Ensuring Commanders' Freedom of Action in Cyberspace. "

In addition to General Chilton's "USSTRATCOM Perspective," the Honorable William J. Lynn III, Deputy Secretary of Defense is also scheduled to speak Wednesday, May 26th.

The symposium is free to members of the media.
