OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - President George W. Bush announced today that he has nominated Gen. James E. Cartwright for appointment as the next Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
General Cartwright is currently serving as the commander of U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Cartwright has served in his current position since July 2004.
"I am honored to be nominated by the President to become the next Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff," said Gen. James Cartwright, commander, U.S. Strategic Command. "It is my duty to serve this great nation and I am privileged to have this opportunity. "
