Martin Pugh, Australian Navy Officer assigned to U.S. Strategic Command, was named Astronomy Photographer of the Year in a competition hosted by the Royal Observatory Greenwich recently. The competition of more than 540 entrants was judged by nine professional astronomers. Lieutenant Commander Pugh won the Deep Sky Category and the competition overall for his image of Horsehead Nebula. He also earned Honorable Mention for his image entitled &#34;Galactic Dust in Corona Australis.&#34;<br><br>The Royal Observatory Greenwich is a part of the National Maritime Museum which works to illustrate the importance of the sea, ships, time and the stars.
