KINGS BAY, Ga. - The fleet ballistic missile submarine, USS Alaska (SSBN 732) arrives at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. Alaska had been homeported at Naval Submarine Base Bangor, Wash. For 20 years and was reassigned to Kings Bay after a 26-month refueling overhaul at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. The addition of USS Alaska, increases the number of fleet ballistic missile submarines at Kings Bay to six.
