SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (March 11, 2014) - Adm. Cecil D. Haney, Commander, United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) receives a brief from Col. Brian Robinson, 618th Air Operations Center vice commander, about Tanker Airlift Control Center operations during Haney's visit to Scott Air Force Base. The visit allowed Air Mobility Command and 18th Air Force leaders to discuss more effective ways to carry out the commands' global missions. "The relationship between U.S. Strategic Command and the 18th Air Force is critical," Haney said. "At the end of the day, when all else fails, our strategic capability has to work. We can't successfully employ the bomber leg of the nuclear triad without the [18th Air Force's] refuelers." USSTRATCOM relies on various components for the execution of its global missions, including space operations, information operations, missile defense, global command and control; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR); global strike and strategic deterrence, and combating weapons of mass destruction.
