BELLEVUE, Neb. (May 26, 2014) Commander, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Adm. Cecil D. Haney and USSTRATCOM senior enlisted leader Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Patrick Z. Alston, far left, greet residents of the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home during their visit to the home's Memorial Day ceremony. The ceremony consisted of a musical tribute provided by the Heartland of America Band's Offutt Brass ensemble. Residents who passed away in the past year were honored with a roll call, playing of "Taps" and a ceremonial flag-folding. USSTRATCOM is one of nine DoD unified combatant commands and is charged with space operations, information operations, missile defense, global command and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, global strike, strategic deterrence and combating weapons of mass destruction.
