U.S. Army Maj. Gen. John Uberti, U.S. Strategic Command chief of staff, delivers the keynote speech during a USSTRATCOM Leadership Fellows Program graduation ceremony at the University of Nebraska's Peter Kiewit Institute in Omaha, May 1, 2015. During the program, the 10 hand-selected USSTRATCOM civilian employees spent 13 weeks, in a classroom-based, hands-on environment, learning from university national security and defense experts and honing their skills in team building, collaboration management, data-driven decision making and project management. The fellowship program, launched in March 2014, is part of USSTRATCOM's ongoing effort to build enduring relationships with partner organizations, such as the University of Nebraska's National Strategic Research Institute, from the private sector, academia and allied nations. USSTRATCOM is one of nine DoD unified combatant commands and is charged with strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
