As the unified combatant command charged with executing the U.S.'s strategic deterrence mission, USSTRATCOM partners closely with the Joint Staff, North American Aerospace Defense Command - U.S. Northern Command, and other defense and government agencies to provide the nation with a safe, secure and effective nuclear deterrent force. In addition to strategic deterrence, USSTRATCOM is also charged, through the Unified Command Plan, with space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
