Members of the U.S. Strategic Command Joint Color Guard pay tribute to America's Prisoners of War and Missing in Action during the 13th annual U.S. Strategic Command Birthday Ball at the Embassy Suites hotel in Omaha, Neb., Oct. 2, 2015. More than 450 military members and civilians assigned to USSTRATCOM and its components, and their families, attended the event to celebrate the establishment of the command in its current form, which occurred in 2002. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
