Right to left: Royal Australian Navy Rear Adm. Peter Quinn, Head of Joint Capability Coordination; Royal New Zealand Navy Rear Adm. (ret.) David Ledson, New Zealand National War Memorial Advisory Council chairman; U.S. Navy Adm. Cecil D. Haney, U.S. Strategic Command commander; Royal New Zealand Air Force Air Vice-Marshal (ret.) Robin Klitscher, New Zealand National War Memorial Advisory Council member; Canadian Army Lt. Gen. Guy Thibault, Vice Chief of the Defence Staff; U.K. Rear Adm. Mark Beverstock, Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff Nuclear Chemical Biological; and Royal New Zealand Navy Commodore John Martin, Assistant Chief of Capability, pose for a photo at the National War Memorial in Wellington, New Zealand, Oct. 13, 2015. The leaders met in Wellington for the Combined Space Operations (CSpO) initiative meeting, which was held to discuss space-sharing activities between New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. The initiative gives participating nations an understanding of existing and future space environments, an awareness of space capabilities to support global operations and military-to-military relationships, and a forum to address challenges and ensure the peaceful use of space. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
