U.S. Navy Adm. Cecil D. Haney (center), U.S. Strategic Command commander, discusses the exoatmospheric kill vehicle of an interceptor with Mr. Mike Sisneros (center right), Fort Greely interceptor manager, and U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. William Cooley (right), Missile Defense Agency (MDA) program executive for programs and integration, at the Missile Defense Complex (MDC) during Haney's visit to U.S. Army Garrison Fort Greely, Alaska, Oct. 14, 2015. While at Fort Greely, Haney toured facilities, including the MDC and the community activity center. Fort Greely is home to MDA and U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command units that support USSTRATCOM's strategic deterrence, integrated missile defense, and space missions. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM's global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, also include cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
