In his remarks, Haney recognized CNAS for its “continued focus on global challenges.” He discussed the growing threat environment in space, the role of space in deterrence strategy, and USSTRATCOM’s ongoing efforts to solve some of the challenges we face in space.  After his remarks, Haney answered several questions from panel members. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
