U.S. Navy Adm. Cecil D. Haney (left), U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) commander, and U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Jonathan Racey, a KC-46 production engineer assigned to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center tanker directorate at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, pose for a photo, Feb. 11, 2016, during USSTRATCOM’s Bomber and Tanker Stakeholders Conferences at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., Feb. 11-12. During the event, Haney and U.S. Air Force Gen. Robin Rand, Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) commander; U.S. Air Force Gen. Carlton D. Everhart, Air Mobility Command commander; and other general officers held discussions with AFGSC wing commanders and deputy commanders as part of their continuing collaborative effort to develop the next generation of leaders. These recurring forums are designed to assess the health and direction of the nation's strategic forces, including ICBM, ballistic missile submarine, bomber and supporting tanker forces, as well as sensors and communication networks. Racey graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) College of Engineering in 2014. The University of Nebraska - which operates the National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI), one of only 13 Department of Defense-sponsored University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs) in the nation - works closely with Haney and his command through USSTRATCOM’s Deterrence and Assurance Academic Alliance. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
