While there, Crosier met with Kawano, Onozuka and other leaders to discuss space, cyber, and missile defense as part of an ongoing collaborative effort by USSTRATCOM and Japan’s MOD to continue growing their partnership. He also toured Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) facilities to review the progress on JAXA's ability to integrate with USSTRATCOM’s Joint Space Operations Center (JSpOC) and to improve on Japanese sensor integration. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
