U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Clinton E. Crosier, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) director of plans and policy (fourth from left), poses for a photo with U.S. and Japanese leaders in front of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s (JAXA) Tsukuba Space Center after a tour of the facility in Tsukuba Science City, Japan, Feb. 29, 2016. Crosier toured the space center to review the progress on JAXA's ability to integrate with the USSTRATCOM’s Joint Space Operations Center (JSpOC) and to improve on Japanese sensor integration. During his visit to Japan, Crosier also met with Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Adm. Katsutoshi Kawano, Japan’s Joint Staff chief of staff; Japanese Ground Defense Force Maj. Gen. Takayuki Onozuka, Japan’s Joint Staff Defense Plans and Policy Department director general; and other leaders to discuss space, cyber, and missile defense as part of an ongoing collaborative effort by USSTRATCOM and Japan’s Ministry of Defense to continue growing their partnership. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
