U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Stephen W. Wilson, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) deputy commander (center), speaks to junior submarine officers assigned to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Ga., during his visit there, March 23, 2016. While there, Wilson and Mr. Tom Janssen, Strategic Command Consultation (SCC) Committee representative (not pictured), presented the 2015 Omaha Trophy, ballistic missile submarine category, to U.S. Navy Cmdr. Kenneth M. Curtin Jr., commanding officer of USS Wyoming Gold Crew (not pictured), and U.S. Navy Cmdr. Wayne C. Wall, commanding officer of USS Wyoming Blue Crew (not pictured), during a ceremony in recognition of the USS Wyoming’s contributions to USSTRATCOM's global strategic missions. The Omaha Trophy, which dates back to the U.S. Air Force's Strategic Air Command, was originally created by the SCC in 1971. At the time, a single trophy was presented annually as a token of appreciation to USSTRATCOM's best wing. Since then, the tradition has evolved to unit-level awards that recognize the command's premier intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) wing, ballistic missile submarine, strategic bomber wing and global operations (space/cyberspace) unit. This year, a new category was added to include the combatant command's top strategic aircraft wing.
