U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Allen W. Batschelet, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) chief of staff (front left), his wife, Terri Batschelet (second from left), Lynda Shafer, Greater Omaha Chamber director of leadership development (front center), Col. Marty Reynolds, 55th Wing commander (front right), and his wife, Deanna Reynolds (second from right), take a photo with the 2016 Omaha Executive Institute (OEI) delegation at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., May 3, 2016. The OEI, which is one of the Greater Omaha Chamber’s leadership programs, introduces new senior-level executives and their spouses to the issues, challenges and opportunities in the Omaha community. The OEI’s annual visit to Offutt is part of USSTRATCOM's ongoing effort to build and maintain enduring relationships with partner organizations from Omaha and the surrounding communities, as well as those from academia and allied nations. The visit provided the OEI with an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of USSTRATCOM and 55th Wing missions and a better understanding of how their global operations deliver warfighting capabilities to defend the nation. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
