Nominees enter the ball room during the 2015 U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Annual Awards ceremony, Omaha, Neb., May 13, 2016. More than 80 nominees, military members and civilians, from USSTRATCOM's headquarters, functional components and task forces attended the ceremony after being recognized within their respective units for outstanding support to the command's global strategic missions. Prior to the award presentations, each nominee was recognized during a medallion presentation ceremony. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
