U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT) commander (center), greets U.S. Navy Adm. Cecil D. Haney, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) commander, during Haney's visit to the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR), Southwest Asia, June 27, 2016. Haney's visit is part of his trip to meet with Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and civilians assigned to the USCENTCOM AOR who support USSTRATCOM's global strategic missions. In addition to USCENTCOM, Haney is travelling in the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) AOR, where he will meet with military and host-nation leaders. Haney's engagements in the USCENTCOM and USEUCOM AORs support USSTRATCOM's ongoing effort to build, sustain and support partnerships with ally nations and other combatant commands. Also pictured is U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Joseph A. Montgomery, AFCENT command chief master sergeant. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
