U.S. Air Force Gen. John E. Hyten (second from left), U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) commander, receives a facility briefing from Mr. Steve Callicutt (left), USSTRATCOM Capability and Resource Integration director, during their tour of USSTRATCOM’s Command and Control Facility (C2F), Nov. 28, 2016 at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. The USSTRATCOM C2F is designed to meet current mission requirements with the flexibility to expand for future mission needs. USSTRATCOM’s current location, the Curtis E. LeMay Building, was completed in 1956 and has been in service for more than double its planned life cycle. The LeMay building was not designed for the demanding Command and Control and Information Technology systems of today. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
