Dicky Daws (second from left), U.S. Strategic Command’s (USSTRATCOM) United Kingdom Liaison Officer, his wife Petrina (second from right) and their daughters Victoria (left) and Alexandra (right), at Buckingham Palace, London, U.K., after Capt. Daws was appointed to the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2016 Queen’s 90th Birthday Honors List. His Royal Highness, Charles Philip Arthur George, Prince of Wales (not pictured), presented the award to Daws at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Feb. 10, 2017, for helping to deepen and enhance the operational planning relationship between the U.K. Ministry of Defence and USSTRATCOM while serving as the U.K. Liaison Officer at USSTRATCOM headquarters in Omaha, Neb. The OBE was established on June 4, 1917, by King George V and is made for public service and contributions to the arts and sciences and work with charitable and welfare organizations. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions assigned through the Unified Command Plan that include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and analysis and targeting.
