BELLEVUE, Neb. - Rita Sanders (center left), Bellevue mayor, meets with Bellevue community leaders and U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Charles “Chas” Richard (center right), U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) deputy commander, for the Greater Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council 2017 USSTRATCOM annual update luncheon held at the Bellevue Public Schools Lied Activity Center, Bellevue, Neb., March 7, 2017. The goal of the Bellevue Chamber’s Military Affairs Council is to foster a pro-business climate in the area through proactive governmental and military affairs initiatives; to maintain and enhance the business community’s relationship with Offutt Air Force Base and tenant units; and to protect and grow Offutt and other Department of Defense operations in the heartland region. One of nine Department of Defense unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions assigned through the Unified Command Plan that include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and analysis and targeting.
