U.S. Air Force Gen. John E. Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), presents a command emblem to Joshua Gryzen, eighth grader from Buffett Magnet Middle School, during an Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) luncheon to promote science, technology, engineering and math at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., April 13, 2017. During the event, Hyten delivered the keynote address and presented awards to local students for their accomplishments in math and science discoveries.  In his speech, he told the audience of students, family members, teachers and military members about his own school experiences and described the tremendous influence teachers had on his life. AFCEA is a non-profit international organization that has helped members advance information technology, communications and electronics capabilities since 1946. One of nine Department of Defense unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions assigned through the Unified Command Plan that include strategic deterrence, space operations, cyberspace operations, joint electronic warfare, global strike, missile defense, intelligence, and analysis and targeting.
