U.S. Air Force Gen. The SAB is a federal advisory committee that provides independent advice on matters of science and technology related to the Air Force mission, reporting directly to the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. The SAB annually conducts studies on topics deemed critical to the Air Force mission and recommend applications of technologies that can improve Air Force capabilities. This year’s research topics are nuclear surety and certification for emerging systems, technology viability to support penetrating counter-air capability, and adapting Air Force test and evaluation to emerging system needs. One of nine Department of Defense unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions assigned through the Unified Command Plan that include strategic deterrence, space operations, cyberspace operations, joint electronic warfare, global strike, missile defense, intelligence, and analysis and targeting.
