USPACOM commander visits USSTRATCOM
OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - U.S. Air Force Gen. John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), greets U.S. Navy Adm. Harry Harris, commander of U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM), with a salute during Harris’ visit to Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., Dec. 14, 2017. Harris met with Hyten and other senior leaders for discussions on USSTRATCOM operations as they pertain to the USPACOM area of responsibility. They also discussed collaboration and integration between combatant commands during exercise and real-world scenarios. Engagements like these support USSTRATCOM’s efforts to maintain close relationships with other combatant commands to deter adversaries and assure allies. Maintaining a combat-ready force, one of Hyten’s three priorities, and training exercises like the upcoming Global Lightning are crucial to ensuring USSTRATCOM and its components are prepared to deliver a decisive response should they be called upon to do so. These efforts support USSTRATCOM’s top priority; to provide strategic deterrence using tailored nuclear, cyber, space, global strike, joint electronic warfare, missile defense, and intelligence capabilities.
