OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - U.S. Air Force Gen. John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), welcomes Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island, ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, to USSTRATCOM headquarters at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., May 30, 2018. Reed spent two days with Hyten at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., and Offutt for discussions and briefings on USSTRATCOM’s capabilities, missions and priorities. U.S. Strategic Command has global responsibilities assigned through the Unified Command Plan that include strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, space operations, joint electromagnetic spectrum operations, global strike, missile defense, and analysis and targeting.
