OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island (second from right), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee; receives a briefing on U.S. Strategic Command’s (USSTRATCOM) command and control facility (C2F) from U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Richard Evans III, USSTRATCOM project manager for the C2F, at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., May 30, 2018. Reed spent two days at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., and Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., for discussions and briefings on USSTRATCOM’s capabilities, missions and priorities. U.S. Strategic Command has global responsibilities assigned through the Unified Command Plan that include strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, space operations, joint electromagnetic spectrum operations, global strike, missile defense, and analysis and targeting.
