GT 254: AFGSC validates reliability, readiness of ICBM force with Minuteman III test launch

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. — AFGSC conducted a test launch of an unarmed Minuteman III ICBM from Vandenberg SFB, Calif., on Nov. 5, 2025. This test, designated GT 254, evaluated the ongoing reliability, operational readiness & accuracy of the ICBM system, a cornerstone of America's national defense.

MH-139 completes first IOT&E flight, advancing nuclear security operations

MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. — Brig. Gen. Colin J. Connor, Air Force Global Strike Command Director of Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Modernization, recently highlighted the future of the LGM-35A Sentinel during the annual Joint Engineers Conference in Helena, Montana.

Malmstrom Airman and Former AFWERX fellow named one of Air Force’s 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year

AFGSC conducts 13N FAST Field Tests

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. — AFGSC members from the Studies, Assessments, Analysis and Lessons Learned Directorate and the Data Analytics Collaboration Cell executed their first field test of the 13N Force Assessment Scheduling Tool, or FAST, at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, Aug. 15-17. Operators and support personnel from the 90th Operations Group collaborated with programmers and analysts from AFGSC Headquarters to ensure the program met rigorous standards for operational needs.

UH-1N Huey aircrew put water survival skills to test

MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. — Aircrew with the 40th Helicopter Squadron conducted underwater egress training to simulate a helicopter crash into water and practice safe egress in a disorienting situation.

Environmental analysis clears Sentinel missile infrastructure construction for takeoff

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas — The construction phase of Sentinel, the Air Force’s multi-billion-dollar missile modernization effort, was cleared for takeoff May 19 as Robert Moriarty, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, signed the project’s environmental record of decision.

The Air Force determined the LGM-35A Sentinel would provide continuity in strategic deterrence and cost less than extending the life of the current intercontinental ballistic missile fleet, comprised of the aging Minuteman III. Air Force’s new intercontinental ballistic missile system has a name: Sentinel

WASHINGTON (AFNS) — Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall approved the designation for the system that modernizes the ICBM leg of the Nation’s nuclear triad.

Interagency exercise paves way for progressive training

MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. — Members of the 841st Missile Security Forces Squadron, 40th Helicopter Squadron, 341st Security Support Squadron tactical response force, 341st Medical Group and 341st Missile Wing safety, with support from the 12th Missile Squadron, participated in an integrated exercise, displaying the weapons and tactics used during a recapture and recovery of an intercontinental ballistic missile launch facility.
