509th Operations Support Squadron wins Omaha Trophy

Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas Bussiere presented the Omaha Trophy to the 509th Operations Support Squadron at Whiteman Air Force Base on August 4, 2022. The Omaha Trophy was created at the tail end of the Vietnam War in 1971 as a single award to recognize the best wing of the Strategic Air Command. It was originally given by the Strategic Air Command Consultation Committee, a group of civic leaders that advised the SAC.

USSTRATCOM visits Malmstrom, presents Omaha Trophy to 12th MS

U.S. Navy Adm. Charles Richard, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, received a brief from 12th Missile squadron combat crew members during a tour of the missile procedural trainer May 6, 2022, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. During his visit, Richard awarded the 12th MS the Omaha Trophy, as the best intercontinental ballistic missile squadron for 2021. First awarded by Strategic Air Command Consultation Committee in 1971, the Omaha Trophy is presented to units across the command in four official categories: intercontinental ballistic missile squadron, ballistic missile submarine, strategic bomber squadron and global operations squadron.
