USSTRATCOM hosts first roundtable discussion with FFRDCs and UARCs

10/6/2016 — OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. – Adm. Cecil D. Haney, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) commander, and representatives from the command hosted senior leaders from Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC) and University Affiliated Research Centers (UARC) for roundtable discussions at the command’s headquarters, Sept. 29.

USSTRATCOM hosts space exercise with international partners

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) led the third Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Tabletop Exercise (TTX) / GLOBAL SENTINEL 16 (GS-16), Sept. 21-30, at the Lockheed Martin Center for Innovation in Suffolk, Virginia. The event provided an opportunity to develop and implement processes for partners from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and commercial entities to collaborate on combined SSA operations.

Looking Glass: USSTRATCOM's Airborne Command Post

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. − A U.S. Navy E6-B Mercury visited Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, Sept. 19-21, 2016. The visit allowed members of Team Minot to tour the inside of the Airborne Command Post (ABNCP) and learn about how it supports U.S. Strategic Command’s mission.

USSTRATCOM hosts Canadian Armed Forces Strategic Joint Staff director of staff

Chuck Lamarre, Canadian Armed Forces Strategic Joint Staff director, at USSTRATCOM Headquarters, Sept. 21, as part the command’s ongoing effort to build, sustain and support partnerships with ally nations.

U.S. Strategic Command hosts Advanced Operational Law Conference

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. − For the first time, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), in collaboration with the National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) and the University of Nebraska College of Law, hosted the Advanced Operational Law Conference here, Sept. 7-9, to explore the legal perspective on USSTRATCOM’s mission areas.

An unarmed Trident II D5 missile is launched from the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Maryland (SSBN 738) during a missile test off the coast of Fla., Aug. 31, 2016. The test launch was part of the U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) demonstration and shakedown operation (DASO) to validate the readiness and effectiveness of the USS Maryland’s Blue Crew and weapon system. Strategic weapons tests, along with exercises and operations, demonstrate the readiness of the nation's nuclear triad, assuring America's allies and deterring potential adversaries. The course is the second of its kind - the pilot non-resident satellite JPME Phase II course in Tampa, Fla., was approved by Congress and launched in January 2013 - and represents the third option for field grade officers seeking JPME Phase II credit. USSTRATCOM, NDU and UNO partner for JPME II course

OMAHA, Neb. — OMAHA, Neb. - Eighteen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Department of Defense (DoD) civilians completed a 10-week Joint and Combined Warfighting School satellite course at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) this week. The graduates received Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase II credit and were recognized during a graduation ceremony at UNO’s Mammel Hall, Aug. 25.

The Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), U.S. Navy Adm. John M. Richardson, provides remarks during a Navy all-hands call at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., Aug. 24, 2016. During the forum, Richardson discussed the U.S. Navy's design for maintaining maritime security today and into the future and answered questions from members of the audience. While here, Richardson also participated in discussions with U.S. Navy Adm. Cecil D.
