POLAR GROWL strengthens Allied interoperability, essential bomber navigation skills
OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - Two B-52 Stratofortresses from the 5th Bomb Wing, Minot Air Force Base, N.D., and a pair from the 2nd Bomb Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La., completed today simultaneous, roundtrip sorties from their U.S. bases to the Arctic and North Sea regions, respectively.

Command Sergeant Major Alston Visits TF 124 Sailors
U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Patrick Z. Alston, U.S. Strategic Command senior enlisted leader, met with Sailors from Strategic Communications Wing 1 (also called Task Force 124 or TF 124) on March 26 to discuss the importance of command and control capabilities to the USSTRATCOM mission and for the nation’s strategic assets.

U.S. Strategic Command to Conduct Command, Control Exercise
OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. – U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), one of nine U.S. Unified Commands under the Department of Defense, will conduct Exercise GLOBAL LIGHTNING 15 with components and tasks forces beginning tomorrow. The command is charged with conducting global operations in coordination with other combatant commands, services, and appropriate U.S. Government agencies to deter and detect strategic attacks against the U.S. and its allies, and is prepared to defend the nation as directed.

5th Bomb Wing to Receive 2014 Omaha Trophy
OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - The 5th Bomb Wing, Minot Air Force Base, N.D., was named the 2014 Omaha Trophy recipient as the command's premier strategic aircraft operations wing, March 3, in recognition of outstanding support to U.S. Strategic Command's global strategic deterrence mission over the last year.

Navy SSP conducts two successful Trident II launches
OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - The U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) conducted two successful test flights of a Trident II D5 Missile, Feb. 22, 2015, under operationally representative conditions to obtain valid reliability, accuracy and performance factors for use by the Commander, U.S. Strategic Command and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System Completes Successful Tracking and Simulated Engagements of Three Short-Range Ballistic Missiles
The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Sailors aboard the USS CARNEY (DDG-64), USS GONZALEZ (DDG-66) and USS BARRY (DDG-52) successfully completed a flight test today involving the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) weapon system.
