One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting. U.S. Strategic Command Kicks Off 2016 Strategic Leadership Fellows Program

Omaha, Neb. - Ten U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) civilian employees were selected to participate in the 2016 USSTRATCOM Strategic Leadership Fellows Program as part of a University of Nebraska program to enhance the management skills and technical expertise of civilians as they progress to strategic supervisory roles.

Hosting the delegation supports USSTRATCOM's Deterrence and Assurance Academic Alliance, which was established in Oct. 2014 to stimulate new thinking and develop future generations of deterrence practitioners. Since then, 20 local and national universities have joined the alliance, including the University of Nebraska campuses. During their visit, the delegation received a USSTRATCOM mission brief from Haney, toured the Global Operations Center and held discussions with subject matter experts from the command. Hosting the engagement is part of USSTRATCOM's ongoing effort to build and maintain enduring relationships with partner organizations from the private sector, academia and allied nations. OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - Members of Congress and the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) commander were aboard the USS Kentucky when the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) conducted a successful test flight of a Trident II D5 Missile, Nov. 7, 2015, to obtain valid reliability, accuracy and performance factors for use by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and USSTRATCOM.
