USSTRATCOM commander visits Montana-based strategic deterrent force

MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. - Given the important and foundational national security capability that our nuclear deterrence forces provide, U.S. Navy Adm. Cecil D. Haney, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) commander, visited Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, Jan. 13 - 14, 2016.

Hosting the delegation supports USSTRATCOM's Deterrence and Assurance Academic Alliance, which was established in Oct. 2014 to stimulate new thinking and develop future generations of deterrence practitioners. Since then, 20 local and national universities have joined the alliance, including the University of Nebraska campuses. During their visit, the delegation received a USSTRATCOM mission brief from Haney, toured the Global Operations Center and held discussions with subject matter experts from the command. Hosting the engagement is part of USSTRATCOM's ongoing effort to build and maintain enduring relationships with partner organizations from the private sector, academia and allied nations. U.S. Strategic Command and University of Nebraska Strengthen Partnership

USSTRATCOM Strengthens Partnership with U.K. Ministry of Defence

DASO 26_DSC4938 _151105 (Nov. 7, 2015) A trident II D-5 ballistic missile is launched from the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Kentucky (SSBN 737) during a missile test at the Pacific Test Range, Nov. 7, 2015. The launch, the 156th successful test flight of an unarmed Trident II D5 missile, was part of a Demonstration and Shakedown Operation (DASO) in the Pacific Test Range to validate the readiness and effectiveness of an SSBN’s crew and weapon system. Strategic weapons tests, along with exercises and operations, demonstrate the readiness of the nation’s nuclear triad, assuring America's allies and deterring potential adversaries. Members of Congress, USSTRATCOM commander observe missile launch from ballistic missile submarine

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - Members of Congress and the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) commander were aboard the USS Kentucky when the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) conducted a successful test flight of a Trident II D5 Missile, Nov. 7, 2015, to obtain valid reliability, accuracy and performance factors for use by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and USSTRATCOM.

B-52 Stratofortresses fly alongside Canadian allies

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) B-52 Stratofortress bombers based at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, and Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, conducted training in and around the area of Goose Bay, Canada, with Royal Canadian Air Force units, Oct. 20 through Oct. 23.
